Panel 144: Social and Cultural Elements in Conflict Formation in the Sahel (Aleksi Ylönen)

Panel Organiser: Aleksi Ylönen

Parting from popular "resource wars" explanations the panel examines social and cultural elements of conflict in Sahelian states related to the established social hierarchy, political and economic power, and state. The attempt is to identify cultural and social elements in the sources of conflicts in Sahel and their contribution to political, economic, regional, and international factors in conflict formation.
